Privacy Policy
How Instant Dashboards handles your data.
Effective July 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Instant Dashboards ("Instant Dashboards", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our web application — including when you connect a third-party data source such as Google Analytics — and the Instant Dashboards Google Sheets™ add-on (together, the "Service"). We built the Service to turn your data into shareable dashboards, and we designed it to touch only the data you explicitly choose to share.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you create an Instant Dashboards account we collect your email address and an encrypted password (or, where you sign in through Google, your Google account email). We use this to authenticate you and to scope your data to your account.
Data you choose to import
When you use the Google Sheets add-on and click "Push", we receive the contents of the single spreadsheet tab you select, along with the column names, types, and any descriptions you provide. We only ever receive data from a sheet you actively choose to push — we cannot see your other spreadsheets or files.
Data from connected data sources
When you connect a third-party data source in the web application — such as Google Analytics — we access data from that source only after you authorise it, and only for the specific properties or datasets you select. For Google Analytics, this means your GA4 report data (such as sessions, users, events, and their associated dimensions and metrics) for the properties you choose to sync. We access this data on a read-only basis, we do not access any other Google service, and we cannot see analytics properties you do not select.
Technical and usage data
We collect basic operational data such as log timestamps, error events, and feature usage so we can keep the Service running and improve it. We do not use this to build advertising profiles.
2. Google user data and Limited Use
We request the narrowest Google OAuth scopes each feature needs, and nothing more.
Google Sheets add-on
.../auth/spreadsheets.currentonly— read the data of the specific spreadsheet the add-on is open in, only when you push it. It grants no access to your other spreadsheets..../auth/script.external_request— allows the add-on to send the tab you selected to the Instant Dashboards service so we can build your dashboard.
Google Analytics connector
.../auth/analytics.readonly— read-only access to your Google Analytics data. We use it to list the GA4 properties on your account so you can choose which to connect, and to read the report data (sessions, users, events, and their dimensions and metrics) for the properties you select, so we can build and refresh the dashboards you request. It grants no ability to change, create, or delete anything in your Google Analytics account, and no access to any other Google service.
Limited Use. Instant Dashboards' use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google user data only to provide and improve the user-facing features you request, we do not sell it, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to train generalized machine-learning models.
3. How we use information
- To authenticate you and keep your workspace separate from every other account.
- To import the spreadsheet tab you push and turn it into the queryable dataset and dashboards you ask for.
- To respond to your requests to the in-app assistant (for example, "chart revenue by region").
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve the Service.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your data. We share it only with the limited set of service providers needed to run the Service, and only so they can perform work on our behalf:
- Hosting infrastructure — our application servers and database, which store your account and imported data.
- AI model provider (Anthropic) — when you ask the assistant to analyse or visualise your data, the relevant content is processed to generate the response. This data is used only to serve your request and is not used to train models.
- Legal — where required to comply with applicable law or to protect the rights and safety of users.
5. Storage, security, and retention
Connection credentials and sensitive configuration are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM, and all data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Your data is isolated to your account by design. Imported data is retained for as long as your account keeps it; when you delete a dataset, dashboard, or your account, the associated data is removed. You can disconnect the Google Sheets add-on, or remove a connected data source such as Google Analytics, at any time, which revokes Instant Dashboards' access immediately; you can also revoke access from your Google Account's third-party access settings.
6. Your choices and rights
- Disconnect: use "Disconnect" in the add-on, or remove a connected data source (such as Google Analytics) in the web app, to revoke Instant Dashboards' access to your Google account. You can also revoke access at any time from your Google Account's Security → Third-party access settings.
- Delete: delete any imported dataset or dashboard from within Instant Dashboards, or contact us to delete your account and associated data.
- Access: contact us to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
7. Children
The Service is intended for business use and is not directed to children under 16.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, by notifying you.
